old children) and preschool-2 (4 to 5 years old children) for literacy or
numeracy development.
Take a moment to reflect and post your comment in the comment box.
Activity for preschool-1 :-
ReplyDeleteI would put a certain number of toys for the children. I would ask half the children to pick one toy each and the other half to take two toys each. And after 30 minutes of playing, the students would be asked to reverse their toys. This will help the children to gain some basic sense of numeracy.
Activity for preschool-2 :-
I would ask the children to play various numerical games based on the interactive toys available to me to further increase their numeracy development.
Activity for Preschool - 1(3 to 4) years.
ReplyDeleteI would ask them to play with toys and numerical blocks. Then after 20 minutes, I will provide them biscuits and try to understand their moods. Play along with them and make them feels free and safety.

ReplyDeleteActivity for Pre -school 1(3-4 years)
ReplyDeleteI wud give them some toys that's available which are familiar to the toys the children have at home and observe their mood after a short break giving them sweets I wud place before them some toys which they may not be familiar with n observe their ways of expression n this way they will be able to differentiate between different objects
Activity for pre-school 2(4-5years)
I wud let them play together for a while with letter blocks and numeral blocks and ask them to arrange in orders. If any child arranges properly I will give some sweet to the child. After observing their activity I will show the others how to arrange the letters and numbers in their proper order. And all this activities will be done in a polite n humble way
Activity for preschool-1:
ReplyDeleteI will give some toys to the students and teach them how to count the toys.

ReplyDeletePre School activity- 1
ReplyDeleteplay way method to teach the child is one of the best method we can used as we asked four children to stand up and distribute a small stick to eachone for break and later grouping four stick for break through this method we can teach strength of group.
Pre school Activity -2
Distributing some colourful small ball to each child and later ask them to keep on serial number one by one through this method we can teach counting..

ReplyDeleteThe key for progression is interaction in this age group the more you grasp their attention the more they can learn. For progression for preschool-2 (4 to 5yrs)
ReplyDeleteOne less / one more: Helping preschoolers develop intuitions about addition and subtraction
Sorting by quantity: Teaching the principle of increasing magnitudes
1.Guess the right order.
To play this game, shuffle the cards, and then ask our child to place them, side by side, in a sequence of increasing magnitude.
For children who haven't yet learned to count, use cards that vary by a substantial amount, e.g., 3, 6, 10, and 15.
For preschool-1(3-4)
Sharing at the tea party: Dividing up tokens into equal portions. Choose three toy creatures to play the part of party attendees, and have our child set the table for them. Then give our child a set of "goodies" (tokens or real edibles) to share with the party guests. The total number of goodies should be a multiple of 3, so our child can distribute all the items equally and have no leftovers.
If the child makes a mistake and gives one creature too many tokens, we can play the part of another creature and complain.

ReplyDeletePreschool children are to be deal holistically as they are too young to adjust in school which make them out of the comport zone of their house as well as from their family.
ReplyDeleteMany play way methods or activities can be adopted to make their progression of numeracy learning.
For preschool-1(3-4)children I
will take one to one correspondence activities with five chalks and five pencils.I will let them place five pencils in a row on the table again I will give them five chalks and ask them to place one chalk beneath each pencil and let them count.
For preschool-2(5-6)children I will engage them in a Self Corrective Number puzzle by giving them number cards and cards with items or things corrosponding to numbers.I will divide them in groups and let them match the number cards and exact card with same number of item/things on them.

- THANK YOU.
Activity in progression for preschool-1 (3 to 4 years old children);
ReplyDeleteMatching items one-to-one is a surprisingly important mathematical concept. It's how we prove that two quantities are equal. Two sets contain the same number of items if the items in each set can be matched, one-to-one, with no items left over.
Activity in progression for preschool-2 (4 to 5 years old children);
Have a puppet or other toy character "bake cakes" (a set of tokens) and ask your child to count the treats. (You can count together if your child needs help.) Next, have the puppet bake one more cake and add it to the set.
Are there more cakes or fewer cakes now? Ask your child, and provide him with correct feedback afterwards

ReplyDeleteActivity for pre-pry- 1. I divide the children in four groups and give them and give them material and objects to conduct and practice the activities. I provide objects of different sizes, and shape, colour and pictures of animals/ birds /transport, objects such as twigs/sticks/pencils, etc. I give directions for different types of activities to be conducted like classification as per given criteria, comparison, seriation, pattern completion etc.
ReplyDeleteActivity for pre-pry.-2
I divide the children into two groups I ask one group to matching sets of objects with cardiacardial numbers and using one count term for each objects, touch and count.
I ask the second group to count beginning from building groupings or set of objects, progressing to the numbers. I also use story books to encourage numerical reasoning.

ReplyDeletePreschool small group activities and games have many benefits for toddlers. Preschool activities are designed in a manner so as to inculcate in children the habit of conversation with one another. It does not only develop their physical and social skills but also motor skills and emotional development. There are many activities which are designed for preschool-1, that is 3 to 4 years old children's and preschool-2, that is 4 to 5 years old children's for literacy or numeracy development. Some of which are stated below.
ReplyDeleteFor preschool-1, activities like free printable number tracing cards and number sort is a great way for kids to have fun and learn number and also practice writing their numbers. Also activity like sorting colours with pompoms and cardboard rolls and paint pops can make learning colours fun. Other activity like homemade alphabet sponge letters and alphabet play dough helps children in learning the alphabet.
For preschool-2, activities like alphabet hide and seek, brings challenge and anticipation of searching for alphabets fun. The other activity like making honeycomb, exploring bi carbonate soda help in creating volcanic reaction which incites curiosity in them to learn. Number cookies also help them in identifying numbers and learning them. The nursery rhyme box is another activity which is developed to encourage and promote oral language development in young children.

ReplyDeleteThe activity that I would do for the kids of 3 to 4 years is to place different kind of toys and let them play for a while. Then I would ask them to identify the different types of toys. The children of 4 to 5 years would be given some numerical blocks and ask them to arrange and read up to number 10.In this way the pre-school 1 and 2 can start learning.
ReplyDeleteFor the pre-scholars-1 I would display different kinds of materials like pebbles, chalks, sticks ,leaves etc. which are available with no cost and low cost and letting them to count verballly in their own languages/dialects, this type of teaching- learning will help them to understand the concept of numeracy and literacy in them. And for the pre-scholaler-2 I would display before the children a number of teaching aids which are available with low cost and no cost like pebbles, different colours and shapes of seeds etc.and letting them to group them and write the number .This type of teaching leaning will enrich them how to count and write numbers properly.Teaching without using teaching materials is like a hunter without a weapon..

Activity for preschool-ie 1_4yrs.I would like to implement play methods. Alphabet chart, numerical blocks and toys.I will ask students to recognize the names of different animals, fruits, vegetables, flowers, writing names of family members. Thus a teacher create friendly and conducive environment for learning.
ReplyDeleteTo observe the children's progress in early numeracy, the following suggestive indicators can be adopted :-----
ReplyDelete●Recognise and create patterns using environment materials and objects.
●Identify sequence/pattern in the stories /poems
●Use vocabulary to describe problem /pattern
●Do touch and counting, using one -to-one correspondence
●Explain about how things are same and different
●Use comparative vocabulary ( e.g. Bigger, smaller, Taller, Shorter etc. )
●Compare the number in two set of objects.
Examples of some activities for early numeracy :------------
Compare and seriation :---
Place 5-6 leaves of different sizes in front of the children. Ask the children (one by one ) to sort out and name the biggest and smallest leaf. Then give them 3 more different sized leaves and ask them to seriate in order, biggest to smallest and vice a versa. When the children are able to seriate 3 leaves, increase the leaves.
Patterning :----------
●Use blocks, beads and other manipulative to build spatial reasoning and patterning skills. For example, 'Threading and patterning activities using colour '.
●Follow the pattern or copying patterns.
●Completing the pattern.

To observe the children's progress in early numeracy, the following suggestive indicators can be adopted :-----
ReplyDelete●Recognise and create patterns using environment materials and objects.

Literacy development starts early in life. The early literacy skills are best developed when we talk to the children, read to them, write in front of them and include many literacy games as they engage in play. Early numeracy refers to the foundations of mathematical reasoning acquired in early years. It involves classification, sorting, noticing patterns, solving number problems, counting, understanding numbers, measuring and so on.
ReplyDeleteEarly literacy skills includes sharing ideas, looking at books, identifying letters and sounds , learning new vocabulary etc. To develop the oral language in children of preschool 1, I would ask each child to come and share their feelings or what they ate for breakfast.
For preschool 2, I would ask the children to describe the size ,shape , and colour of their pencil boxes.
For preschool 1, I would do a story telling session where I would read out the whole story with pictures word by word and use my index finger beneath the words. This would enhance the early literacy skills in children. The use of index finger beneath a word would draw their attention towards print.
For preschool 2 or 4-5 years old, we can give the children worksheet which would require them to paint the pictures given in the worksheets. Now we can let them do the counting touch and count one ,two, three, four and five. We can use 5 crayons for this activity. And we can let them differentiate the colours of the crayons used for the activity.

ReplyDeleteA childs brain is an empty slate so it is important to help them develop their instinctive and ideological skills at a very young age. Children are curious and are eager to learn and also adapt. My way on helping them would be, for preschool-1 I would want them to paint or draw numbers or alphabets and as jingles attract children I would sing numberical and alphabetical songs to them, also give them toys representing shapes, numbers, colours e.t.c. As for preschoolers 2 I would make them choose topics for their homework from the lists of topic I made so as to help them develop their instinct and help them become responsible. I also would introduce them to an interactive way of studying and learning new things to become outspoken and confident and give every student their share of stage.
