Take a
moment and think about the memories of your childhood days and list one
pleasant and the one not so pleasant memory. Also, share two stories/rhymes
learnt in your early years.

A pleasant memory of my childhood is the trips I used to take with my siblings to lush greenery that surrounds my hometown. The carefree nature of those times, the pure joy we had making those trips are still a source of joy. A not so pleasant memory of my childhood is the constant economic hardship during those times.

And took it home to Mother dear,
Who thanked her son and daughter.
The above rhymes called 'Humpty Dumpty' and 'Jack and Jill' respectively are two rhymes that I learned during my early years.
There are so many pleasant memories of my childhood, one of them is when I was in primary classes we use to play 7 stones game every evening. For that we need sleepers to wear on hands and our warden didn't allow us went out with sleepers so we used to threw sleepers from window then went out. The other memory which was not so pleasant when I was in special class I fell down from swing. The rhymes of that time were" dawn uthao jungle jao lakeri kato re""rim Jim rim barish ho rahi thi"
DeleteThe pleasant memories of my childhood was distribution of biscuits by the teacher to the students. The unpleasant moments was teasing by my senior students. They used to tease us till crying. The Lion and the Little Rabbit story is my best memory. Our Warden teacher was very good. He used to tells us stories every night before bed. Another story is Ramayana and Mahabharata. Thanks to our warden teacher for telling and giving us knowledge about the Epic story. Rhymes I remember Twinkle twinkle little star and Ba ba black sheep.

ReplyDeleteThe pleasant memories of my childhood was carefree and had no worries at all.i used to wander like a deer in the open fields,enjoying the natural beauty of the pastures,and playing with my siblings and cousins.The memories of childhood have special significance in one's life and are cherished by almost everyone.

When I recollect the days of my childhood,I feel highly delighted,it was a pleasant period that I spent in high spirits.
One pleasant memory of my childhood was going out to collect firewood with my friends. The not so pleasant memory is walking very long distance for school.

ReplyDeletePleasant memories of my childhood days are a trip for school picnic where I had enjoyed eating picnic dishes with friends and roaming around the river bank. My not so pleasant memory was when I was detained two times in class III. I was detained because I had not appeared the exam. I don't have knowledge of exam. But after two years I came to know what pass and fail means. The two stories that inspired me was of Mahatma Buddha and Angulimal daku and another story is of Savitri and Satyavan. Two rhymes are "Ba ba black sheep" and a hindi poem "Karo mitra ki madad hamesha".
ReplyDeleteMy pleasant moment of my childhood is the playway teaching like memorizing alphabets of English n Hindi in groups. We didn't have any notebooks to write down the letters but used to write on slates and revise at home.
ReplyDeleteThe worst experience was when some elder classmates or seniors used to erase our writings on the slate of break them.
Poem in Hindi like "Donyi polo donyi polo asmaan se kuch toh bolo " is still afresh.
Pleasant memory of my childhood were the days playing with my younger brother and friends and our family picnic.

The two stories which I remember of my childhood were," The Thirsty Crow", and ," The tortoise and the hare".
And the two rhymes which I remember of my childhood is," Rain rain go away, come again another day..." and ," Johnny Johnny yes papa..eating sugar no papa..."
My favourite childhood memory is of playing with friends during lunch break. A not so pleasant memory is when my best friend left the school in the 8th class as her father got transferred.

My favourite childhood memory is growing up,I had a very loving family.I had three siblings with whom I used to playa lot.I remember very fondly the game we use to play.Each day we played different games,for example,football on one day and cricket on the other.These memories of playing games we very dear to me.The two rhymes I remember in my childhood are: 1)Johny,Johny,yes Papa. (2) Twinkle,Twinkle,little star.
ReplyDeleteChildhood days are the best part of one's life.But this doesn't mean that all events that happened to a child would be smooth or pleasant.Some events are pleasant and ofcourse some unpleasant things also were there.
ReplyDeleteThe most pleasant events during my childhood days was going to the Anganwadi centre where our teacher would teach us action songs rhymes etc.It was very fun moment indeed.The nutrition suplement that were distributed in the form of chana,badaam biscuits,sometime kichdi were our centre of attraction.
The most unpleasant thing during our childhood was gender stereotyped of allowing us (daughter)to do all the household chores and allowing our brothers(sons) to play all day to their fullest.

The most pleasant memory I experienced during my childhood was, our warden used to take us for swimming once or twice in a month. And the most unpleasant memory I experienced was,I lost the way during treking in a jungle. The rhymes I remember is"johnny johnny,yes papa,eating sugar no papa.....
ReplyDeleteI was in boarding school in my pre primary classes, making new friends, playing with them and catching insects were some of the pleasant moments I had and on the other hand remembering parents and home were not so pleasant. 'Twinkle twinkle little stars' and 'Uppar phankha chalti hai' are the rhymes I learned in my childhood days.

ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasant movements of my life when teacher told us for playing and drawing. The movement which i hate that seniors order to bring something which belongs to them. I liked one hindi poem Kali koyal bol rahi hay, dal dal par dol rahi hay,ku ku kar geet sunati,kabi nahi mere ghar ati....which i still remember this till last.

My pleasant memory -When we used to go for picnic along with my brother,two sisters, their friends,my friends on the bank of a river and making simple foods and enjoy a lot. And my most unpleasant memory was when our teacher punished us without any reason,for this reason i think corporal punishment is ban now. Rhymes- Johny Johny, twinkle twinkle, row row your boat etc

The most pleasant memories of my childhood is picking berries and eating them with my friends in the near by jungle of my village.

Childhood is a beautiful period in ones life. Recollecting the past is to plunge ourselves in the state of melancholy. As I remember my childhood I remember it to be full of pleasure, thrill and entertainment and feels delighted that it was a pleasant period that I spent in high spirits. There are certain incidents that are still fresh in my memory. For instance, I still remember, swimming experience. It was a Sunday when my friends and I would go out in the river near our school for swimming. I would teach our friends how to stroke and we would talk and laugh as we swam. Such experience was a pleasant one because that's how I learned to swim.
ReplyDeleteThere are also certain incidents not so pleasant one which I would rather forget if I could as it included a lot of sufferings but they are still fresh in my memories. For instance, at the age of seven, I suffered from severe attack of typhoid. For which I was admitted to hospital by my warden and I was all alone during the recovery period without my parents by my side. After taking medicine for a sufficiently long period of time, I was cured. Such unpleasant incident makes me nostalgic and I wish my childhood did not include such chapter.
Also, the two rhymes which was the first I learned when I joined school and which still happens to be my favourite, these were ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ and ‘Johny Johny yes papa’.

The pleasantest memory during the time of my childhood were: Playing marbles with friends in the morning and in the evening was very enjoyable We used to play wildnut fruit as marbles because at that time glass marbles were not available.Catapulating the chirping birds at the time of holidays was also memorable.Some unpleasant memories are:I still remember the bullying boys who used to beat me when the teacher was away.Some stories/rhymes that I remember today are:Ba ba black sheep,Rum-pelt-stilt'skin.

The pleasant memory during the time of my childhood were playing coins and marbles with friends in the morning and in the evening was very enjoyable. I remember today two peom in hindi are 1. Donyi polo donyi polo asmaan se kuch to bolo.

A pleasant memory of my childhood. I remember that when I was in the 5th grade, one time my parents woke me up in the morning as they always did, I asked them," can I skip school today?"My father responded,"of course you can, if you get up,get dressed and make your bed quickly enough." I credulously believed him and did everything everything as fast and efficiently as I could...... and then I learned I learned that it was April Fools Day.

The pleasant memory of my childhood was the one with my cousins and friends playing the safety pin game. the unpleasant memory was the one I was beaten up every Sunday morning because of watching movies on the Saturday night and staying the night at my Didi house. The first poem i learnt was Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill.

My most pleasant childhood memories was when me and my sisters along with our cousins used to go to river for swimming after our classes and not so pleasant was when we go back to our home after enjoying our swimming session, our mother used to wait for us to give us a very sweet beating.

ReplyDeleteOne such pleasant memories of my childhood days was when I got new clothes, shoes, chocolates, pistachios, biscuits, etc. along with school uniforms and allied materials from my godly elder brother for the first time when I arrived Tippi along with my beloved mother from my native village.
ReplyDeleteMy unpleasant/not so pleasant memory was the disconnection of electricity in my native village after a mere incident which lasted so long enough that my native village was re-electrified in the year 2013.
Ramayan and Mahabharat are the two mega epics/stories that I have heard from our tenants at Tippi and also watched it on the television in my childhood days.
Now, coming to the rhymes, I learnt Ba Ba Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, etc. in my childhood days.
Each one of us has nostalgic memories of childhood tucked away in the scrapbook of our mind.To think back of all that I loved which increased my happiness as a child I feel so thankful and blessed.I was too busy as a child in my play and work to notice that "happiness' was camping in my head.Recalling as to why those days were so enjoyable takes me to my innocent growing up moments full of love all around me.Lasting impressions from childhood experiences have certainly moulded my thoughts and actions as an adult.

One of my pleasant memories that I had during my childhood was learning poems and vocabularies when I was in class 1st I read about Nabum hello tum bhi hello then when I got promoted to class second I remembered learning doni polo, doni polo, aasman se kuch toh bolo. These were the pleasent memories which I live d.but one of the most unpleasant memory was learning khari and getting tease by senior students
ReplyDeleteThe younger we were at the time ,the better. I cannot remember too much from my young childhood but as a child we use to celebrate most of the festivals so waking up early to spot a new clothes beside our pillow, putting it on and strolling around the town with siblings can be counted as one of the most pleasant one.I remember the day of Sarawati Pooja when me and my siblings wore a saree and as usual went for a stroll ,then suddenly a dog start chasing us while we were running for our lives the saree got unfolded and our brother found a thread nearby ,tied our saree and we started to run again for home ,at that moment it was the most unpleasant day but now as I reacall those days it brings smile to my face along with a watery eyes.So what we thought of as an unpleasant day became a memorable event in my life .
ReplyDeleteAs a child i grew up listening to focktales narrated by my dad and grandma which i liked the most . But "Tenalirama" and "The Jungle Book" can still be a show stealer .

A pleasant memory of my childhood is the trips I used to take with my siblings to lush greenery that surrounds my hometown. The carefree nature of those times, the pure joy we had making those trips are still a source of joy. A not so pleasant memory of my childhood is the constant economic hardship during those times.

The above rhymes called 'Humpty Dumpty' and 'Jack and Jill' respectively are two rhymes that I learned during my early years.
One of my pleasant memory as a kid is traveling to other villages to play sangken the festival of water with my siblings and unpleasant memory involves me drowning in the river near our village.

During hot summer season I used to swim in the river with friends. I was obedient and sincere. One teacher used to call me to clean his utencils and kitchen . The teacher liked my works. He was a good teacher. I started learning English from that teacher.

My first week in the school was not so pleasant. One boy used to tease me always. Whenever the class was without teacher he used to tease me. He troubled me too much.
While learning, there was no problem with the alphabet chart. But I faced problem learning with numerical chart. There was no maths teacher at the beginning. I didn't know how to start. I started writting numbers as 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ...I assumed that as English alphabet chart the numbers would also go horizontally. Later on I learnt It from one of my peers.
I learnt only two poems.

I was in U- kg in Assamese medium. One day I went with my grandmother along with village elders, to trip for visiting historical and religious place near Brokpalangchen village.We hold one night in the jungle to reach the site.On the way I ate lots of wild fruits.i was very excited and happy to pluck and eat crap apples, bananas, and varieties of wild fruits.I enjoyed a lot.

There are lot of pleasant moment in my childhood that happened in my school lives and all of them are just the best on them own.Some of them had I used to have a long friend circle and good relation with the entire student of the School. One of the best moment was during School week celebration.In School I always waiting for ending of seventh period because after seventh period I used to go in the School field for NCC prade which was very interesting for me.

I vividly remember those childhood days when I was entered school along with my mother.I was just 4 years old. The teachers were very friendly and kind enough to enrol my name in class I. During those days there was no such LKG or UKG system in our school. In very next day we were taught of ABCD... alphabet and 1,2,3,4.... numerical. It was very joyful and interesting to learn the alphabet and numerical in the beginning of school life. It was really wonderful days that I had a chance to make friendship in the school.
ReplyDeleteOne more memorable not pleasant was that when I was in class II standard the teacher had given homework. I forgot to do the homework and teacher had got annoyed since then I was very cautious in studies.

ReplyDeleteThere are uncountable memories of our childhood. Childhood is the most precious days of life and gift of god. It is a carefree life with no worries. All we wait for is our school to be over and play with our friends. The most pleasant memories of our childhood was to play with friends, dance, do fashion shows in our hostel rooms and many more. As I used to stay in hostels the pleasant moment was to wait for second Saturday , as our parents used to come and visit us on that day, they take us outing, buy chocolates, biscuit etc.

In my childhood the story I have learned is about The Hare and the tortoise. Where there is a race between a tortoise and a hare. The hare who was very proud of his steadiness but in the end the tortoise wins the race.
The period of childhood is the part of one's life. I got my early schooling In my village which was at the remote place. Pleasant memories of the the time was that we came to school,to eat biscuit rather than study. We were happy when we put school uniform and enjoy playing games. Some unpleasant moments were I couldn't follow what the teacher says as he was a Non-tribal and hence usually got punishment. ReplyDeleteWhen I went out for a picnic with my family. We paid a visit to the zoo and had an incredible day. My mother packed delectable dishes which we ate in the zoo. My father clicked so many pictures that day. When I look at these pictures, the memory is so clear, it seems like it happened just yesterday.
One memory which is not so pleasant :------
The most vivid memory ( not so pleasant ) that I have is about the time I fell from the roof of the building of my own house. Though I fell from about ten feet, I dislocated ankles and knees of my both the legs. I was completely at bed rest of about three months. I can still recall the process of falling and the immense pain and discomfort afterwards.

The most pleasant memory of childhood days was around the time when every evening some of the girls would come to my place,we used to prepare the Pooja thali,then would sing and worship the Tulsi plant.Doing this would make us all very happy.Thinking about the unpleasant memory, all I could remember is that during my initial school days,i literally hated going to school ,so every morning before leaving for school ,I would cry so badly.Two of the stories that I remember relating to my childhood days would be Appu's story and kabuliwala.And rhymes twinkle-twinkle little star and Donyi-polo Donyi-polo.

My pleasant memories of my childhood days was when i was in my 3rd standard at boarding hostel.I used to play a lot.when in the classroom all the students were playing and shouting.All of a sudden there was a pin drop silence and I unknowingly shouted a loud.The teacher was already in the class and i got frightened and was ready for punishment.But our teacher was a kind and good natured person.He didnt reprimanded me instead taught us to be kind and humble to every one.when in class one should not play rather proper silence should be maintained.These words by the teacher really touched my heart till today.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many pleasant memories of my childhood days but one such memories is my going to maternal Grandfather's house during my summer vacation where I used to meet with my cousins and we use to play day and night without any tension.In the weekend my maternal Uncle will take us(cousins and siblings) to watch movies in Cinema hall and there we used to enjoy movie eating peanuts and popcorns.

The childhood story that I remember is the story of two friends, Monkey and Crocodile.The monkey used to live in the mango tree having ripe, sweet and tasty mangoes.His crocodile friend who lived in the nearby river often used to visit him .one day the monkey gave him some delicious mangoes which the crocodile took them home for his wife.When his wife tasted them found them very delicious then she thought that if the mangoes are so tasty,then how tasty will be monkey's heart.So she demanded monkey's heart.Then the crocodile went to the monkey and told him lie that his wife invited him in lunch.But he cheated him by telling him wrong about his plan to kill the monkey and eat his heart.How the monkey saved himself by his presence of his mind.

Childhood is the happiest period of one's life. It has been called the golden period of life. In my childhood i had no responsibility. I got everything without doing anything. My every wish was readily fulfilled. I enjoyed perfect freedom. I was always eager to know 'why' and 'how of' everything. But gone are the days of childhood. Only sweet recollections of that golden period are left.

A pleasant memory of my childhood is the trips I used to take with my siblings to lush greenery that surrounds my hometown. The carefree nature of those times, the pure joy we had making those trips are still a source of joy. A not so pleasant memory of my childhood is the constant economic hardship during those times.

During my childhood I was carefree and have no worries . I used to wonder in the open fields enjoying the natural beauty There are certain incidents that are still fresh in my memories, for instance playing football with friends in the school playground or swimming in the nearby river for hours were pleasant experiences.of my childhood. But there were unpleasant experiences too.howerer they were few. One of the unpleasant experience was teasing by older students and not letting to play football with them during playtime.

While recollecting the past memories I came across with many moments of childhood days.But the most pleasant memory that I have ever remember was the day when I had been served some chapati with dal to eat by my beloved teacher in school.Because I never had tasted or eaten such dish before.Still Iam remembering those teacher who helped me to become a nation builder.And my unpleasant memory was the day when the older student teased or treated mannerlessly most of the day in the absence of teacher in classroom.In those times I learnt hindi the name of textbook was 'Arun Bharti'.In it there was an interesting lesson or topic about tamed animal 'Gayal'which means 'Mithun' in hindi.Till I am remembering that effective and lifelong memory teaching imparted by dedicated teacher of our times.And also I remembered one poem of hindi that was a 'Donyi Polo.Let me recall a few lines of poem which would helps me feel my childhood memories as realistic. My first week in the school was not so pleasant. One boy used to tease me always. Whenever the class was without teacher he used to tease me. He troubled me too much.
While learning, there was no problem with the alphabet chart. But I faced problem learning with numerical chart. There was no maths teacher at the beginning. I didn't know how to start. I started writting numbers as 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ...I assumed that as English alphabet chart the numbers would also go horizontally.The rhyme that I learnt during childhood was

ReplyDeleteWhen I went out for a picnic with my family. We paid a visit to the zoo and had an incredible day. My mother packed delectable dishes which we ate in the zoo. My father clicked so many pictures that day. When I look at these pictures, the memory is so clear, it seems like it happened just yesterday.
One memory which is not so pleasant :------
The most vivid memory ( not so pleasant ) that I have is about the time I fell from the roof of the building of my own house. Though I fell from about ten feet, I dislocated ankles and knees of my both the legs. I was completely at bed rest of about three months. I can still recall the process of falling and the immense pain and discomfort afterwards.

ReplyDeleteAt the age of 6 years I was admitted in Class I in the year 1974-75 in the school presently called Govt. H. S. School, Likabali. In those days, I had attended schooling in the Classroom where present day classroom facilities are not available. Though there was a Assam type building but there was no desk and benches. Students are use to sit in the floor on a mat in a queue. Teachers use to teach us Alphabets of English & Hindi languages, numbers, and sometimes Rhymes Like "Ba Ba Black Sheep" etc. one Assamese teacher who always teaches us assamese rhyme like "Na Chino tumak Prabhu kot asa probhu, ami ati Soru lora, Siory... Siory Matiley tumak namata duror pora" & " OPhool O Phool no phulo kiyo, gorue a je aag khae moi no phulim kiyo" . In those days, I was very good in Mathematics, Every time my teachers appreciate me and use to rewarded me with sweets and toffees. For memorization of learning Multiplication Table my mother use to taught me with my mother tongue only that i use to recall it till date.
One Un-Pleasant Memory of my childhood.
In those days teachers were very strict. If Classroom Task, Home task etc not done timely , then they beat us in our palm making redish and sometimes making us cock as punishment. We usually afraid of those deadly strict teachers.

Childhood memories have their own kind of nostalgia. As time goes by,one feels more attached to their childhood. The most wonderful periods of ones life.Most of the childhood ultimately becomes pleasant while not that wonderful experiencing it. When talk about the childhood memories one of the pleasant memory was when our school took us to a picnic .Everyone was very bubbly and excited that day. We were the first batch after school had announced picnic, so it felt even better experiencing first. We never had picnic with friends. So it was more exciting. The best part was location and the journey. It was near a waterfall and we used vehicles to go there. We hardly saw any vehicle those days and to be able to ride one was another kind of excitement.

Grandma would feed us on tasty new year snacks and give us new clothes to wear on occasion of new year. We would also visit our friends and go to our favourite playing ground. A not so pleasant memory was that, once while playing with my friends i lost the key of my house my mother came from field and asked me to open the door but i was unanswerable, she beat me and i cried whole night. For that we need sleepers to wear on hands and our warden didn't allow us went out with sleepers so we used to threw sleepers from window then went out. ReplyDeleteThere are many memories of childhood. Some pleasant and some otherwise. One pleasant memories of my childhood that I remember is of the time when I was a boarder. During Ganesh Chaturthi we made Ganesha idols and painted them and adorned the idols with beautiful flowers. We use to go to the lengths of the forest that surrounded our hostel to find white mud to make the idols. It was so much fun then. And in the evening we were served delicacies which was the best part of the celebration. How we used to relish it.

We had many story telling sessions by our teachers and also we used the library very often. We were provided with variety of books like Amar Chitra Kathas , the Panchatantras, fairy tales, folktales, moral stories and the likes. One story that I remember is of "The Hare and the Tortoise " where the slow and the steady Tortoise outwitted the hare by winning the race.
Another story that I recall is a fairytale classic " Thumbelina" where the main character of the story Thumbelina is a very little girl who is the size of a thumb and sleeps on the bed made of walnut shells. We use to read the stories with so so much awe and fascination then. We had so much fun then.
We had poems and songs sessions too. I still remember this poem
" Chubby cheeks, Dimple chin,
Rosy lips, teeth within.
Curly hair, very fair.
Eyes are blue, lovely too.
Teacher's pet is that you?"
And other poem is ,
"Baa baa black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir yes sir three bags full,
One fir my master and one for my dame,
One for the little boy who lives down the lane."

ReplyDeletegreatly, being born in avillage, i had received my education in the village middle school. One of the most unpleasant memories of my childhood that i can vividly recall to this day in the maths class .The maths teacher was very strict and his very presence in the class used to send chill among all the students present. The two stories that inspired me was Ramayan and mahabharat and the two rhymes which i learnt in my childhood are jony jony yes papa and twinkle twinkle little star.
During summer Vacation, I used to go with my freinds to take bath in the river.That was my pleasant memories of my childhood.

There are so many pleasant and unpleasant memories of my childhood.The one I very fondly remember is going to the river to bath on weathers either sunny or cloudy, along with my siblings and friends it was very fun and it always makes me smile whenever I pass a river. The unpleasant memory would be being physically punished by a teacher, those scars which i still carry, with passing time this incident gives me an outlook on the norms of teaching efficiently and not maleficently.

ReplyDeleteThe most pleasant memories of my childhood is playing games like marbles,langrhi-taang,seven tiles,Gilli danda etc with my friends and not so pleasant is when someone scolding or teasing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childhood memory is playing with friends n siblings during weekend and their is a hindi poem my all time favorites is like -Yasi dekh rahi he Suraj,uutta pyara pyara .Nilgagan mein lalli chaye durr hywa andhera n playing marbles was very enjoyable.
