In my view, of course, multilingualism is very important, when in our class room, teacher teaches english language, especially in pre primary section they don't get to know English language even the simple words at that specific time.we try to use childs language to explain the words .so the child capture the word first in their own language and can easily understand the word.so my opinion is this,yes we can use multilingualism as a resource and a strategy for language learning.

  9. our country india is a glaring example of unity in diversity. Besides sanskrit,we have twenty one(21)modern languages.Obviously,we will have multilingual characteristics in our classroom transactions which will enhance the creation and appreciation of cultural awareness,adds academic and educational value,boosts creativity,adjustment in society and appreciation of local speaking languages besides inculcating a spirit of brotherhood and feeling of oneness amongst the learners.

  14. The ability of an individual to communicate with more than three different languages is known as 'Multilingualism'.
    There are five benefits of multilingual education. They are the following: -
    1. Multilingual education fosters the essential 21st century skills;
    2. Multilingual children are more emphatic;
    3. Speaking more than one language is better for your brain;
    4. Multilingualism connects communities;
    5. Being bilingual gives children better job prospects.
    Besides, as we open up to new culture. We begin to appreciate others' opinions and actions. As a result, multilingual people are better equipped to see the world from perspective, therefore enhancing their ability to communicate in today's global economy.

As we open up to new culture, we begin to appreciate other's opinions and actions. As a result multilingual people are better equipped to see the world from different perspective, therefore enhancing their ability to communicate in today's global economy. Yes, it surely can be used as a resource and strategy. The NCF 2005 emphasized that multilingualism, which is constitutive of the identity of the child and a typical features of the Indian linguistic landscape must be use as a resource, classroom strategy and a goal by a creative language teachers.

  29. Yes, we can use multilingualism as resource and strategy. It is advantageous for both teachers and learners. In states where the medium of instruction is different from the mother tongue or the language spoken outside the classroom, the students face lots of difficulties in learning. In such learning situations, it becomes very much necessary for the teacher to use the language spoken by the learners to give more clear understanding of the particular topic. In such learning environment, students can improve language skills in both the languages used in teaching learning. In addition to that multilingualism practices in school creates cultural awareness, enhance creativity in the learners and adjustment in society.

Oral and literacy skills in multiple languages are necessary for meaningful participation in the larger democratic sociopolitical and economic system of the country. Starting with the mother tonguage for family and community level communication, people need languages for regional communication, national level communication and wider communication. Thus, promotion of multilingual competence is widely accepted as one of the goals of Indian education. In a very broad sense, reflecting the fundamentally multilingual character of the society, education in India has been multilingual at different points in history continuing into the present times. But, at the same time, the relationships between different languages and their roles in education have continuously evolved both with micro‐level socio‐historical processes and also with the dynamics of power structures at the macro‐level. These processes have continuously affected the society. So, this system use in school for better teaching.

  39. According to me, multilingualism is necessary for all the students and teacher, specially to the backwards area and people because the poor people where not able to get proper education, that's why the multilingualism can help to communicate the poor students.
    In a general school multilingual is useful to communicate the students because the elementary children are first use their mother tongue language, so we have to communicate just he/she understands. Therefore my view multilingualism is best source and strategy.

  44. Multilingualism is the act of using polyglotism, or using multiple languages , either by an individual speaker or by a community of speakers. Many documents and policies have shown multilingualism's importance.
    As a teacher, I am of the view that multilingualism practices in education can bring and include the creation and appreciation of cultural awareness, adds academic and educational value, enhances creativity, adjustment in society and appreciation of local languages . Humans need an organized medium of communication in any given social set up. It also fosters the creativity and cognitive flexibility of the students.
    Multilingualism can be used by a teacher as a resource and strategy as the medium of education instead of medium of instruction. As it
    supports students ability to transfer the literacy skills acquired in one language to subsequent languages. Thus, multilingual is used as a resource to cater diverse needs of the learners related to their language/class/caste/culture in the classroom situation.

  67. Multilingualism refers to the ability to speak multiple languages. It is constitutive of the Indian identity. It is a natural phenomenon which relates positively to cognitive flexibility and scholastic achievement. Therefore as a teacher we need to use this as a resource and a strategy. When children begin to learn second or third language, they already know the first language thoroughly. We can start teaching the third or the second language with the introduction of words and letters of the first language. We can narrate and make them understand simple stories and poems and later ask them to create one on their own. This will boost the confidence of the child which is an essential part of their growth. Multilingualism practices in school also creates cultural awareness, enhanced creativity and better adjustment to society.

  68. According to my view India is a vast county. Different people speak different languages.Specially every student know his or her mother tongue. So after coming to school they learn other languages by conversation with an interaction with other children and friends.so we can make a multilangual classroom by conducting activities:
    Here is one activity:
    1_students of Monpa,Adi, and Nishi.
    2_select a sentence to interact among them.
    Activity begins:
    Teacher: Good morning students.
    Monpa student: Tashi Delek.
    Nishi student: Payalanchu.
    Adi student: Rogambe.
    This way we can make the classroom multilangual classroom.

  69. According to me multilingualism must be given importance. India is a diverse country. So many languages are there in our country. When children come to school they come with their mother tongue. They learn different languages from their environment. We must create friendly atmosphere in the classrooms. For that we must develop a holistic perspective on nature of language.
    Children come to school with different languages. We can make them as a useful source of multilingual classroom.
    Here's is an activity:
    Step 1. Select students of different languages.- students of Monpa, Nisha and Adi.
    Step 2. Select a sentence to interact amongst them. The sentence is Good Morning.
    Activity begins:
    Teacher: Good Morning students!
    Monpa student: Tashi Delek !
    Nishi student: Payalancho!
    Adi student: Rogabe!
    This way we can make the classroom a multilingual classroom.

Multilingualism in the field of education paves way for quicker and easy communication as having knowledge of more than one language enables a person to avoid restrictions in communication thus enabling him to move to another stage of communication.Also multilingualism practises enhance intellectual flexibility and creativity.Being teachers,we can definitely use multilingualism as a resource and strategy while teaching the students because many a times we see in the class that students are reluctant to answer because they are unable to answer in a particular language and so they have this fear of getting mocked by their classmates.So in a situation like this, allowing the students to express their thoughts in more than one language will certainly boost or encourage the students to open up in the classroom.
