But the use of primary sources exposes students to important historical concepts. Students become aware that all written history reflects an author's interpretation of past events. While using primary sources the students develop important analytical skills. So, Primary source should be used first as they are the raw materials of history i.e., original documents and objects.

  139. For understanding a particular period in history, I would assimilate primary and secondary source as they complement each other in bringing clarity to the subject. Primary sources provides first hand account of an event or time period and are considered to be authoritative. They represent original thinking, reports on discoveries or events, or they can share new information. Secondary sources involve analysis, synthesis, interpretation, or evaluation of primary sources. But the use of primary sources exposes students to important historical concepts. Students become aware that all written history reflects an author's interpretation of past events. While using primary sources the students develop important analytical skills. So, Primary source should be used first as they are the raw materials of history i.e., original documents and objects.
