  2. In this modern age/times anybody can be heir to the family property be it boys or girls, early marriage /dowry for girls should not be encouraged. Work wise whoever is more capable/hardworking preference should be given,.menstrual myths/taboos should be avoided. About restrictions of going out both boys and girls should be taken into equal consideration. Even after marriages girls should never be considered as outsiders as they are our own. We should never consider that girls are inferior to boys.

  3. We have been heard and seen from the early days that gender stereotype activities are been practiced in various society like choosing boys over girls apparently in every field, but as we can see in this modern days many things has been changed and had to be change a lot further, girl are not the second choice any more they can take care of their parents, family etc, infact girls are doing better than boys.

  4. These certain ideas and practices must be stopped at the earliest. In today's modern time, girls are not inferior to their Male counterparts. A girl can do any kind of job with perfection assigned to them. Discrimination on the basis of gender must be stopped. The above mentioned institutions , ideas and practices are orthodox in nature and should be replaced immediately.

  5. Stereotype activities are practiced in many societies. Bias and prejudice were prevelant in the past. But in this modern era both boys and girls have equal rights. Girls should not be deprived of preveledges and preferences.
Socially, child marriage or early marriage dogmas should be discouraged. We should condemn dowry system. Physically, both man and woman can move from one place to another for all round development. Infact girls take care better than boys as well as of parents. So right of permanent member should be given to them.

  6. Gender discrimination continues in every aspect. The need of the hour is to make a change in the mindset of the society. What is required is a converted effort to sensitise the society in eradicating this issue of gender inequality. It is high time that every child should be treated equally.

  12. # In many tribal societies sons can only inherit immovable properties and girls all movable. When comes the question of legal heirs of family properties, then, yes, daughters should also have equal share.
    # Early marriage of girls are also due to thinking girls as properties, this mentality must be changed to bring improvements real gender equality.
    # Time and time again in the past this statement has been proven wrong that 'men are care givers/nurturers', so, why cling to false idea.
    # Showing love & affection for daughters by giving some properties when they are married is understandable but making it a trend or norms in society is bad. Dowry must banned.
    # In the most cases, pretext of keeping the family name, sons are preferred over daughters. The world is changing, so dogmatic ideas also must be changed.
    # Menstruation is a part and parcel of woman, It is natural, and we must not add wrong perceptions. There should not be any false teaching.
    # When men will in reality respect women, there won't be any restrictions on physical mobility of girls.
    # Understanding girls as non-permanent members of the family is gender disparity. So, it must be changed.

  13. These things strengthen patriarchal society... If we want an equality for all then these practices need to change.

  14. The Indian constitution guarantee equal rights to both male and females. But in many fields we observe inequalities in female than man. Our society is a patriarchal society. from immemorial past social practices, philosophies, ideas, rules etc are framed and formulated by keeping male dominancy. It is only due to illiteracy, ignorance etc. which results the unsocial practices on females prevailed in the society that should required to be changed or modified with time.
The various evil practices on females prevailed in the society are :- the practice of Dowry, Child marriage, Female Infanticides ,menstrual taboos and myths, restriction of physical mobibility etc.
In the Society girl child are treated as "PORAYA DHAN". and due to the Practices of Dowry, probably girl Childs are reared miserably than Boys and make it a burden. Hence, they don't provide equal opportunity to grow in the society. Moreover, females contribution towards making social structure was overlooked. Hence, at the time of birth they are been killed in the mothers womb which we called as female infanticide. This results in the imbalances of sex ratio as a result social evils like rape, prostitution etc is seen which drag our society in wrong direction. Though Govt. has passed various regulation and implemented it but 100% check on this social evils lays on the hands of prolonged poor mindset of the people in the society.
We come across various menstrual myths and Taboos of Female in the society. At the time of menstrual cycles females are kept isolated and not allowed to participate social rituals as they are not treated as sacred which also demoralizes females for participation in social activities that could probably led to decreases in the efficiency level. For eradication of such existing taboos and myths we should changed our existing mindset and modify our prevailed societal rules etc then only we can succeed.
In regards of social mobility restriction are imposed to females as females are treated less powerful in strength then man. Hence, to provide protection restriction on mobility is imposed to girls. But, this type of narrow mindedness we should give up . We should realize ourselves that both male and females are equal but only exist in biological difference.
In regards with economic independence, females are also play a vital role to make family and society prosperous. if females are given equal chance to raise income then family's income automatically increases and become self dependent which paves the way for independent thinking which is beneficial for development of community / society as well as for the country. Hence, equal rules in terms of legal heir of family property should equally be granted to both boys and girls.
Hope, in coming days we will able to eradicate all evil practices against women and provide equal opportunities in various fields that will surely raise the status at per male which we are observing these days.

  15. All this have to be changed because it support stereotype society, and create discrimination between boys and girl.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Socially we really encounter such stereotypes where priorities for property is preferred for boys whereas Early marriage for girls. So society treats girls inferior and a less important part of society and needs to be changed immediately. A woman if given importance would make a family better and world a better place to live.

  17. Since past days male dominating society is prevailing, where males are enjoying much more rights compared to females in decision making, public assembling, educatinh, performing rituals etc which compels females to feel inferrior and neglected.Beside this, there prevails a belief that sons are the permanent care taker & house holder but daughters are not. Thus, every one prefers male child than female child and gives all the properties to son not to daughters.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Some institution and ideas should be change because these all ideas creates a Male dominated society which results the backwardness of female. Female gender will never get the opportunity to rise up in her future. We have seen from the pre historic period that there was a great hand of women in the developmental activities of the society. If we keep the women group dominant there is a hindrance in the path of development of the society too. We should treat equal to both the gender as both if them are equally important for the society. Only son should not be the heirs as daughter has the right to be heir because she can also look after the parents property well sometimes in comparison to son.All the above points must be avoided because all these points are anti female things

    ReplyDelete

Gone are the days when gender specific roles were there. Men are renowned cooks and women have reached the peak of Everest.
The world is now moving towards a gender neutral society and school Is a place where such ideas need to be shared and practiced.

Women need a safe space to feel comfortable to speak about menstruation and support to understand their bodies. Lack of awareness results in decisions that affect a women's health and once we start busting myths and enabling girls to adopt healthy practices, many problems will be solved.

  30. Social construction is a continuous process in which both the individual and the wider social process play a part. Social process like socialization and education also help to make these constructions. Gender is an example of such social constructions
Sex refers to the biological differences between men women and third sex. While gender refers socially determined culturally specific difference between women, men and transgender.

  31. We are now living in 21st century and every person, reagrdless of their gender has contributed equally in every field of life, be it science, arts, entertainment etc.

If i would like to put forth my opinions on all these mentioned points i would say that the son being the legal heir to the family property is okay. But it does not mean that the girl child be shut off from all the family property after she gets married. Every child should have an equal share.

Girls should never be forced to get married at an early age, rather they should be married with their consent and when they are ready. Everybody has their own rights in their own life.

It is not necessary that Man has to be the caregivers. It should be an inbuild character in everybody. We have to be able to reflect humankind among ourselves.

Dowry should never be practiced in any religion or tribe. Instead helping each other when needed should be the practice among the bride's and groom's family.

There has been a lot of taboos regarding women since the ancient times. But now we have really developed and know that those myths lead us nowhere but to under development of our own society. Menstrual cycle is a natural phenomena. This is what continues life on earth. We all came out of our mother's womb.
Having a child should always be considered as a blessing, whether be it a boy or a girl. So giving equal mobility rights is needed. And family members will always remain permanent, women doesnt break off their ties after getting married. Once a family member, always a member.

    Respect everyone despite their gender.

  34. Patriarchy and prejucide against women has always been an issue .People hVe a misogynistic thoughts and they tend to apply that in the society .Since , kids we are taught gender roles .Mens are told not to cry and act macho and we make fun of them they show any emotions.Girls are taught how to cook and work in kitchen ,during mensuration they are not allowed to entwr the temple and even eat and drink in seperate plates and glasses . This biasness and misconception should be changed and can be changed only throught proper education . That is through us that we can build their young minds and teach them the right concept .Girls can work too, they can own the property as equal as boys.Dowry has been illegal in India but it continues to thrive and camaigners say it leaves women vulnerable to domestic voilence and even death .We mjst nurture the young minds by giving the right information ,so that in the near future no such evil practices prevail. We must teach them that as an individual we are different some can be fragile and some can be stronger but not as a girl or a boy .Even boys can cry ,even boys can get assaulted ,even boys can undergo domestic voilence and it is not a taboo. This evil practices still prevail and it is only through us that we can change and nuture their young minds to create a better society.

Ending girls marriage requires work across all sector at all levels.Using an empowerment approach can lead to positive outcomes for girls or helping them to forge their own pathway in life.Mensturation is a phenomenon unique to girls but it surrounded by taboos and myths aspect of socio-cultural life. The challenge of addressing and belief further compounded by the low girls knowledge level and their hhealth.Unless they themselves choose to fight for their right things won't change fast enough. Parents have to take change and break these taboos

  48. Certain institution/ideas and practices required to be change because now a days old beliefs and myths are not applicable, we should treat boys and girls equally, in some fields girls are doing much better than boys, if girls are more capable then give opportunities to girls without discrimination, legal heirs of family property should be share equally to boys and girls of a family, totally ban on dowry system and early marriage of girls. Girls should be treat as permanent member of family even after her marriage. All the practises which discriminate between boys and girls require to be change.

  50. The notion of inheritance of property only to the sons should be changed as daughters of the family are equally important and have the right to property .

Early marriage of girls should not be practiced by force because it is their right to choose whenever they want to get married, also they are not able to take care of their family and they might not be able to adjust in the new family in young age.

In India, women are supposed to stay in homes and men are considered to be the 'providers' of the family. Women also take care of everything and they nurture their child since their birth .

Dowry has been an age old system in India. However it is not a good practice and should be abolished completely as it pressurizes the girl's family and sometimes poor families may even might end up in debt.

Sons and daughters should be equally treated in the family . There should be gender equality. Both of them have the equal responsibilities for taking care of the family .

Taboos and myths regarding menstrual cycle of girls and women in India is that they are considered as impure during that period. Such taboos should be changed as this is a natural phenomenon for women. This topic shouldn't be avoided and everyone should be aware about it. Society should take rightful steps to create a safe space for the women, the even men, to talk upon this topic.

Girls are equally independent and the the restriction on their physical mobility is due to the fears of the parents. Boys starting from their childhood should be educated about how to treat women. Families should understand that girls have the right to develop on their own.

In India, girls are considered to be a burden in the family who are set free after their marriage. They are seen as someone who are non permanent. This should be changed as they are also the part and parcel of the family that they belong to.

As why only sons should get the legal authority heir of ones family property although daughters were also born and brought up with the same consideration and concern. Along with many girls mainly in rural areas are married at a very early age right after schooling which needs to be stopped because every girl has the right to educate and become independent.practicising of dowry is huge crime but back then it was a very important ritual. Women aren't something which could be buyed and selled with a specific amount of money.menstrual taboos and myths are woven in the minds of people that a particular place becomes impure if a girl on her period stays there. 88. Considering point no. 1 above, the line is very applicable to patriarchal society. This is mainly for uphold, preserve and save family property from losses and destruction.
A person from matriarchal society can termed it wrong which is incorrect actually.
Point no. 2- Early marriage is almost non-prevalent nowadays. It receives criticism from every corner of society and almost eliminated to 100%. It is a crime against female group of society and it needed to be 100% eliminated in coming days.
Point no. 3- Actually, it seems, words misplaced here- 'women for men'. Nurturing works are very specialized by female group.
On other hand, man can be hard workers and good fighters. However, if tried, they can also be good in nurturing and caring.
Point no. 4- Dowry system India received widespread criticisms from various corners because of the failure to fulfill the dream of making a complete family and successful life. Most of the dowry marriages had proven tragic to life of bride or groom. Hence, it should never be practiced again in any marriage in India.
Point no. 5- preference for sons over daughter is a correct choice in a patriarchal society. On the other hand, a matriarchal society choice would be just reverse.
Point no. 6- Menstrual taboos and myths is a no problem activity now. People can use scientific equipments and leave aside difficulties arising out of it.
In this modern scientific age, we must display and practice scientific temperament and outlook cutting across all unscientific and orthodox faiths and believes.
Point no. 7- Restrictions on physical mobility of girls. All people and society are not same everywhere. Different places and regions people think and practice different. But some regions consider it right to control and restrict their movements.
With the changing world, people are becoming aware that girls also needed to be given freeness to play and live free.
Nowadays, even girls are taught the art of self defence and many more
Point no. 8- Girls are non- permanent members of the family- Its often heard, especially. In our country like- India that girls have two homes, they are- 1st is the childhood home where she takes birth. Here, she live for her childhood to adolescence.
2nd home is her in-laws house where she would live the rest of her life. She enters here right after marriage.
Thus, it has rightly been said, girls are non- permanent members of the family.
Thus, in order to live a healthy and prosperous life we must look forward bringing acceptable changes over odd occupations towards a positive direction.

  93. Gender stereotyping is an ethical wrong but when it violates one's rights and discriminates someone then it is a Human Rights violation.
Any such ideas, beliefs and thoughts, and any institution encouraging the same, wrongs another mankind and hampers the harmony of the societies.
In India the lawmakers have tried hard to wrong the right by passing many legislations and to keep the spirit of social equality alive.

1)Property Right- Sons being the heir to family property is no longer a legal right. In Vinita Sharma V/s Rakesh Sharma, the Supreme Court clearly stated that the rights of the daughter flow from their birth and not by other factors such as the existence of the father. Thereby, ensuring the equality of women.
2)Early marriage of girls- Early marriage of girls is the result of entrenched gender inequality. Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 have prohibited early child marriage and imposed punishment for its practice. The central government have also increased the age of marriage for girls from 18 to 21.
3)Men are caregivers/ nurturers- Men may be caregivers and nurturers and if they are then they are looked upon and praised for their effort. However, women are the natural and biological caregiver or nurturer but the work done by women are not recognised as it is considered moral and emotional obligation that a woman is entitled to perform selflessly. 4)Practice of dowry- Dowry is a centuries old tradition that deepens the roots of gender inequality. It is one of the reasons that women are treated like a burden and girl child is unwanted. Though, Dowry Prohibition Act of 1961 prohibits dowry but it is still being practiced.
5)Preference of son over daughter- It has led to the creation of new crime known as female foeticide that has resulted in the decline of girl population. To combat this the government has passed the Preconception and Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques Act, 1994 that bans and punishes those involved in prenatal screening and female foeticide. 6)Menstrual taboos and myths- This has excluded women from many aspect of social cultural life as they are considered impure like restriction on the entry of women of menstruating age to the temples like Sabarimala temple. But the supreme court stated that any discrimination on psychological grounds violated the fundamental right as enshrined in the constitution such as the right to equality.
7)Restrictions on physical mobility of girls- Such norms are discriminatory in nature and does not satisfy the equality of life and personal liberty. This creates a barrier for young women to participate in the society and nation building.
8)Girls are non-permanent members of the family- Girls since an early age are made to understand that they are non permanent members of the family and have to leave soon.
Even the society with the least gender inequality problem is not free of inequality and girls and women are bound to experience this in some or other aspect of their life.
The idea that girls are not permanent members of the family should be stopped and every girl child should be praised for their very existence. 'Change should happen from within', so,very girl and women should stop doubting their worth and identity and instead be proud of their gender and educate those who are lagging behind in their thoughts.

  98. In India, gender discrimination traces its roots in the past. There's a broad distinction between male and female section of the society. They're assigned different works according to their gender. The Indian society has always been portraying male as the true hier of family property. They were expected to work outside and earn for their family whereas the female are portrayed as 'care givers' who were expected to stay at home and carry out household activities. The myth that women are caregivers of the family often to early marriage which led to certain complications and overburdened with responsibilities at an early age. Thus, this made the children to indulge themselves into family raising and responsibilities. Though irrelevant myth and taboos related to women's health has been abolished but yet it's still prevelant in the Indian society. In some parts of India, women are still not allowed to kitchen and religious places during their menstrual cycle. During this period, they're portrayed as 'impure'.Also, women have always witnessed challenges from certain section of the society such as restriction on physical mobility, force on marriage and few others. However, this ill perception has been witnessing a change in India and today women have excelled in every field.

Every child deserves to reach her or his full potential, but gender inequalities in their lives and in the lives of those who care for them hinder this reality.Wherever in India girls and boys see gender inequality in their homes and communities every day – in textbooks, in movies, in the media and among the men and women who provide their care and support.Across India gender inequality results in unequal opportunities, and while it impacts on the lives of both genders, statistically it is girls that are the most disadvantaged.
In some families sons are legal heirs of the property but not the daughters, this should be changed as both are child of same parent and must be given same rights
Early marriage of girls shouldn't be practiced as this doesn't allow the girl child to carry on all the responsibility and also they can't complete their education
In modern world not only men but also female should be able to nurture her family
Practicing dowry must be stopped as in some villages it becomes a tension for the parents to arrange such a huge amount of money the groom demands for, which is why parents don't want to bring up girl child
Preference should not be given to son or daughter....it should be equal so that both cab rise and achieve their desired target
In many of the places mensuration is treated as dirty but it's a normal process which is very necessary for life birth and should not be considered as myth
Restrictions on girls not to move outside discourages them the most and it's 21st century now and this should not prevail yet
Girls being the child of the parent should be treated as the permanent member of the family and should be given same rights as that of the son

  107. In context with the statements cited above, efforts needs to be put to change and wipe out certain stereotype gender based ideas and practices which has been a hindrance in womenfolk's progress since time immemorial.Like stopping child marriage and practice of dowry would prevent violence against women, and give them the space and opportunity to progress equally with the menfolk. Both boy and girl should be a legal heirs of the family property and should be given the right to be a permanent member of the family since they both belong to the family and can do equally good for the family.Gender equality is intrinsically linked to sustainable development and is vital to the realization of human rights for all.And I believe Societies that value men and women as equal are safer and healthier.

  108. Certain ideas and practices should change as it leads to discrimination between an opposite gender. It always shows female as a weaker section of the society and male as the stronger section of the society. This concept has been following since time immemorial without any change. Not only an uneducated one but also an educated section of the society also follows these ideas and practices these concepts throughout. Therefore, there should be a change in the mindset of the people who discriminate between an opposite gender. They should know that Sons and Daughters are equal and there's no difference in it despite being different in physical. But physically different doesn't mean that they are weak. Now a days, Girls are also becoming more stronger than boys in different ways i.e. physically and mentally. A daughter can also be an heir and it isn't necessary that they should get married early. They can also take the responsibility of the family. About the menstruation, it isn't a taboo at all. It concerns hygiene and is not a purity issue. People need to know that menstrual blood is not impure. It is just like blood from any other part of the body. So people should know of it. Even a woman in larger section doesn't know at all that it isn't impure. About the preference of boys over girls, it can only be changed if a girl is given a chance to show her strength. Thus, a change ofmind and chance to a girl child can change everything. THANK YOU.

  118. In today's modern world, many things have changed. Now boys and girls are equally capable. They both complete each other. But still some certain norms and practices have not been changed.
    1. It is not necessary sons need to legal heir of a family. E.g- A company run by a father, later can run by a daughter too. If she is capable, she can lead it to better direction and take it to a new level .
    2. Early marriage should be banned. As it is illegal, to marry before21. Moreover, every girl has the right to decide about herself. She has the right to decide whom and when to marry.
3.Practice of dowry should be banned. As it hampers the girls family to arrange the dowry n it leads to depression also. Due to this a family feels that a girl child is burden to them. More often it leads to killing of girl child in the worm itself or after the birth of girl child.
    4. Man are caregivers/ nurturers. This statement is completely wrong. Nowadays a woman is also nurturers as well caregivers. She handles both her house chores as well as her office works. She equally compete with the man. Howmuch she is tired after her office work but still she comes home and do the house chores. She devotes her time to her family.
    5. Girls are non-permanent member of the family. This is wrong statement. Before marriage girls devotes her time, care and love to her family. After marriage she devotes her time, care and love towards her husband's family. Leaving her house and taking care of her husband family is not a easy task for a girl but still she manages to take care of both the family. So a girl should always be welcome by her family members.
    6. Why more preferences are given to boys than girls. Today girls can equally compete with the boys.
Girls can play cricket, football too. A parents should equally treat her children N should equally educate their child.
Girls her not lacking behind. E.g- Indira Gandhi she was the prime minister of our country India.
Mary kom, PV sindhu and many more.
    6. Menstrual taboos and myths. It is still seen in many parts of our country. As it is natural
Thing but menstruation still it is consider as impure and dirty. The mindset of the people need to be change. If a girl is her on period why people make fun, instead they should help the girl. So better education campaign should be done related to this matters.

Gender inequality has been a social issue in India for centuries. It is a known fact that discrimination starts from even before the girl child is born. Because of dowry system, most Indian families consider girls as a burden. If we want girls to be able to complete education we have to end child marriage. We must take initiatives against the act of female foeticide and child marriage. Even today, during menstruation, girls and women are not allowed to enter the temple or touch anything related to God. In some parts they are not allowed to enter the kitchen. Restrictions on physical mobility of women are imposed as women are treated less powerful in strength than man. Our society has some early traits but everything is changing in todays society. Early marriage and dowry practices have been abolished and are thought to be and age old practices. The parents of both the girl and boy are encouraging independent living and helping their sons and daughters to reach out for jobs and earning. Preference of sons over daughters and physical mobility of girls are abolished. Both the genders are allowed to go out for better education and finding better job perspectives. A myth that girls are non- permanent members of of the family is totally discouraged. They are treated same as the sons and are given equal opportunities to show their capabilities and make themselves or prove themselves to be the best out of them.

  151. These practices show the patriarchal mindset of our society. Many laws and rules have been made to change such conservative practices and institutions but they have not been very effective. Such practices are discriminatory against women, and negatively affect their mental and physical well-being, and their economic and social life. We need change so that women can achieve justice and equality, which, in turn, benefits the society as a whole. Family-members and teachers can play an important role in this process by spreading awareness about social evils and about what needs to be changed to eliminate them.

  153. Since from early time, the Indian societies are male dominating and patriarchal in nature to till date. If we really want an equality in both male and female then we should change our mindset. Sometimes in our daily life we came across a line that is ladies first. It means that it is the responsibility of every male to respect female with due care . Every male should treat female not his inferior rather he should feel it as his counterparts. In this modern era of 21st century we should not think that girls child born is a curse paraya dhan, etc. Like a responsible citizen of the nation we should treat boys and girls equal in every respect. Moreover the law of the soil also accepted the equality of female with male along with the Constitution of our country. We should keep our tradition and custom but it may modified accordingly with needs of society and time.

  154. The Indian constitution guarantee equal rights to both male and females. Even though it has been guaranteed, the ideas and practices are still the same like back in old days where bias and prejudice among boys and girls were prevailed.

The following statement given above clearly symbolises inequality of female over male.

We need change so that women can achieve justice and equality, which, in turn, benefits the society as a whole. Family-members and teachers can play an important role in this process by spreading awareness about social evils and about what needs to be changed to eliminate them.

Gender equality is a fundamental human rights.yet despite modernization and progress, women and girls in todays world do not fully experience equal rights and their potential as economic, social and educational? They receive unequal pay for equal work and they continue to be targets of physical and sexual abuse, brutal crimes such as rapes, dowry deaths and honour killings.
The above mentioned certain institutional ideas and practices according to me are highly discriminatory. Potential women and girls in our society don't fully enjoy many of their rights due to deeply entrenched patriarchal views, norms, traditions and structures. We must not support such discrimination, ideas and educate our society to abolish such negative practices.

Considering daughters as a non -permanent member and treating her as one can lead to emotional stress and develop a sense of alienation affecting her mental health. Also the stereotypical image of a man as an ineligible caregiver is a fallacy because they can equally provide love and care and in few cases their nurturing skills even surpasses that of a woman.

    > Early marriage effectively ends a girl childhood, curtails her education. Girls around the world deserve to live full childhoods, go to schools, be free of the violence and negative health consequences associated with child marriage. So, ending early marriage is the smart thing to do.

    > Both men and women are equally competent. Women are no inferior to men, they are the real architects of society. Stereotypical thinking about the mens as caregivers, nurturers should put to an end.

    > Dowry - an social evil. Dowry system should be stopped as it puts great financial burden on bride's family, also in some cases it leads to crime against women ranging from emotional abuse and injury to even deaths.

    > Gender inequality is all over the world, however the basic preference for a male child over a female child is deeply entrenched in India and some other country. There are people who sacrifice daughter for son. Children are a blessing, we should cherish and be grateful whether it's a boy or a girl child.

    > Menstruation has always been surrounded by taboos and myths that exclude women from many aspects of social-cultural life. Such taboos about menstruation present in many societies impact girls and womens emotional state, mentality and most importantly health. So, one should understand that menstruation is nothing but a very normal biological phenomenon, and adolescent girls and women should understand that they have the power of procreation only because of this virtue.

    > Ending all discrimination against women and girls is not only a basic human rights, it's crucial for sustainable future. Parents and society must understand that giving wings to their daughter can make large positive difference in the society.

    > It is clearly a false statement about the girls being non permanent members of the family. Girls are or should always be welcome by their family even after their marriage. They are and will always stay a member of the family.

Let's say no to discrimination towards any gender and make this world more beautiful and lively.

  173. 1. Sons are legal heirs of family property:
This statement is total violation of women's equal rights to property. This discrimination takes away the future security of daughters. Sons or daughters, children should get equal shares of family property.
    2. Early marriage of girls should be stopped as it ends girls childhood, force to drop out of schools, physically and mentally not prepared to look after family, hence high risk of domestic violence.
    3. Not only men, both men and women are equally responsible for nurturing their children.
4.Dowry has been constitutionally abolished, but this evil practice still exist in Indian society. It is a crime against women. It causes mental and physical torture to women. Need to stop.
    5. Preference of sons over daughters may lead to large family size, poor health and infant female mortality due to discrimination in food and health care. So change mentality, treat children equally.
    6. Menstrual taboos and myths affect the mental and emotional state, lifestyle and health of girls and women, excludes them from many social and cultural life. Need to educate about this. It is just a regular natural change in female reproductive system.
    7. Restrictions on mobility of girls may cause mental health disorder in girls and may lead to school dropouts and early marriage. Should allow them to move, learn and grow.
    8. Girls are considered non permanent members of the family due to lack of education and the old cultural belief that girls would move to their husbands home after marriage. This mental setup of family members lead to unequal treatment and discrimination towards girls in every aspects. Need to change this mind set.
So all the above statements are related to gender inequality and discrimination against female children and women which needs to be sensitised to change the mindset and to eradicate this social evil from the society.

  174. As of the early times we know about women have also been considered to be childbearers or household workers. In all the above practices we can see a clear line of gender inequality and discrimination.
    * Sons are given the family property in many families. There are many families with no male child so whom do they make their property inheritors? There should be equality in sharing of property among the children against any gender discrimination.
*Many female girl child are given to marriage at an early age. At this young age many girls have no idea about their reproduction organs functions due to which many of them die at a younger age in the process of childbearing.
*men as caregivers should be normalised as many of the men who in future become single dad have no idea on how to take good care of the child.
*Dowry system has already been banned in India but still practices can be seen. It is like putting monetary value to human relations.
*preference should be equal as women are nowadays capable of doing equal and sometimes greater jobs than the male.
*It is due to the menstrual cycle that the humankind comes into existence. Both the genders should be taught on the menstrual cycle so that we can avoid certain myths and beliefs.
*Rape a common news everyday. Women are mostly taught not to move out of the house at night but isn't it that we should teach males the ability to self control and stop such harmful deed.
*after marriage women are mostly considered to have a new family in her in-laws. In my opinion women's are human as well and can't be marked as a product to have it as a permanent or temporary.

  175. With the cycle of time it becomes greatly required to alter certain institutions, ideas, beliefs and practices that is quite prevalent in the society. The cause behind inferior feelings and emotions of the female is not any other but the gender stereotypes and social discriminations. For many years the society have been believed that the sons are the only legal heir of family property but it is a myth concept and this should be replaced by giving equal privilege to female.Untimely marriage of girls is one of a social sin.Basically this situation helps to create gender stereotype feelings in others so it should be totally discouraged to be in practice. Not only men have able to give care and nurture the family but also women possesses the same ability to look after the family if they be given a chance.Still dowry system is existing in some parts of our country. This system is one of the bad customs and traditions of the female child that hinders overall growth and development.Every parent should provide equal preferences in any activity to their child whether they are a boy or a girl.Mostly girls child are restricted to take part in various religious ceremony because of the menstrual negation. This is misconception and instead of restricting they must allow to share their opinions and experiences with the counterpart.Since our country is democratic all people have equal right to do ,think and move.So no restriction be laid on the physical mobility of girls.I will not accept this notion if situation favours girl child also become permanent members of the family.

    3. Earlier men took the responsibility of being the breadwinner of the family. But now men and women equally take care of their home and each one of them should get equal treatment and respect from society.
    4. Practice of Dowry is banned but still it is prevalent in some parts of India. Some parents spend all their lifetime savings for their daughter's marriage and some even take loans for this practice.
    5. Some parents prefer sons over daughters because they believe that sons will take care of them when they grow old. But a daughter can also take care of her parents and her home while doing her job.
    6. Menstruation is a phenomenon unique to girls. However it has always been surrounded by taboos and myths that exclude women from many aspects of socio-cultural life. Culturally menstruation is still considered to be impure. But with passage of time our understanding has changed and now girls and women go to work even when they are menstruating.
    7. A girl's parents are scared to send their daughters outside because they are protective of their daughters. Instead the society needs to educate themselves and change its viewpoint.

  185. Sons are legal heirs of family property: In Indian custom ,we are generally practicing a patriarchal society. As a result ,sons are treated as legal heirs and they enjoy and inherited the family property. But, daughters are being deprived from enjoying all these after marriage. This is a case of social discrimination against women or reinforces gender stereotype.May it be a son or daughter they deserved equal treatment.
Early marriage of girls : may be because of ignorance, illiteracy or age old social system ,daughters are treated as a burden and proper educating is not given to them..Rather, they arrange marriage for their daughter in early age.Wherein ,they are not mentally, physically or emotionally matured enough for marriage.Rather at this stage they need basic support for their growth and personal development. This is bias on girl child and need to change this mindset or system in the society.
Men are caregivers/nurturers : a caregivers is someone who is responsible for looking after another person paid or unpaid.lt is a fact a that, as the number of seniors continue to increase, male are also needed to support and care for their parent ,spouse and family members. In our male dominant society ,mostly women are engaged as caregivers. Our society treated them to be borne for that job and they are doing this job since they grown up .This a discrimination on women.
Practice of Dowry: Dowry is the giving of gifts or money to a groom on behalf of the bride's family. It is a common practice in Indian marital system ,which dates back to centuries.Although Dowry is banned ,there is still a lots of families which follow the custom. In greed of money and it's ill effect leads to dowry related violence and abuse, bride burning, wife murder and female infoeticide. This need to be introspect that, how does having a boy differ from giving birth to a girl?.
Preference of son over daughter : Parent's prefer for a son is a well known phenomena. They belief that a girl is liability and they will have to invest their hard earned money to give dowry during the marriage of their daughter. They also don't give any importance to educate them.On the other hand, they belief that ,a boy will take the family's name forward and look after them in their old age.Today we are living in a revolutionised world. However,we continue to live in a world in a heavy bias against a girl child. Our society is yet to come to term with these changes.
Menstrual taboos and myths: The menstruation is a normal process which occurs in a healthy female body. The beginning of the menstruation cycle brings in physiological change in the life of the adolescent girl.Yet, it is surrounded in secrecy.Because of prevailing myths ,misconception and taboos around menstrual women and girls are excluded from many educational, social and cultural life during their menstrual period. But ,imposed of taboos to women during this period in totality is a biasness.lf the hygienic means are taken care of there is no harm in participation of women in educational and in certain social and cultural life during this period.
Restrictions on physical mobility of girls: The restrictions in physical mobility of girls is started early in life owing to socio-cultural norms.Because of defined gender roles ,it is believed that a woman should be with the children, while the man goes doing business.Further more ,in our country ,social violence against women discourages girls from going to school or owning business and inadvertently deter women economic empowerment.
Girls are non-permanent members of the family : The notion girls are non-permanent members of the family implies that ,in our Indian society ,once a girl get married ,she goes to an another family. Thus, the bride moving to the in-laws house and became the new member of the family .

  186. Gender Equality' is still a far cry goal for many girls and women. Equal right and equal opportunity should be given to them. In this modern age anybody can be heir to the family property be it boys or girls, early marriage and dowry system should not be encouraged. .
whoever is more capable preference should be given for that work,.menstrual myths/taboos should be avoided. About restrictions of going out both boys and girls should be taken into equal consideration. Even after marriages girls should never be considered as outsiders as they are our own inseparable family beloveds. We should never consider that girls are inferior to boys.

  187. In Indian society, born as girl has face gender discrimination at all levels. But we should stop the perpetuation of gender inequality.
Generally in Indian society boys are the legal heirs of family property but we should discourage this type of discrimination. We should give the daughter to have equal rights in property. Early marriage is causes due to poverty or lack of sexual education, it can be prevent by giving knowledge the affect of early marriage in life. Women are the majority of caregivers/nurtures of the family, in this modern age men are also caregivers/nurturers. Dowry effect badly in society such as violence and abuse, wife murder etc. So we discourage the practice of giving and taking of dowry. Daughter are more care/understanding of her family compare to sons, so preference should be given for their work. Menstruation is considered as dirty and impure so women are not allowed in ritual. This kind of orthodox should be discouraged. Restrictions on girls is discrimination of freedom of movement. Non - permanent it means her real place belong with her in laws and she is just a guest at her parent's place. We always show our love and affection towards her.

  188. In the modern world or society, girls are not so far behind in the comparison of boys in any area or field ,they have all the abilities which a boy can do. But still we have an ancient idea that their position in the family is within the four walls and they are caretakers of family and having duties to cook food and take care of their babies only. Many instructions /ideas conventional practices, traditions, customs and superstition promotes the gender stereotype and inequality among boys and girls.
Sons are legal heir of family property, it must be changed as daughters can not be deprived of their right of equality. Succession act 1956 cenfer the status of coparcener on the daughter born before or after ammendment in the same manner as a son with the same rights and liabilities.
Men are caregivers /nurtures, it was applicable and somewhere true in ancient society but now a days women are not for cooking and taking care of theirbabies, they are working outside and more than men. They are physically and mentally strong, rough and tough like men, so why not women act as caregivers and nurtures.
The dowry system can put great financial burden on the bride's family, in some cases the dowry system leads to crime against women, ranging from emotional abuse and injury even death. Sex selective abortions, negligence towards daughters, abuse etc. effect safety of women and girls directly due to dowry system. It also makes embalance the sex ratio and lower the status of women. Many laws are there against dowry like section 498A IPC.
As the girls are now literate, self-dependent and earn money not only for them but also for their other members of family, the dowry system must be banned for the future betterment of girls.
Preference of sons over daughter promotesand encourage gender inequality. Due to this old and traditional practice or idea daughters feel inferior and think they are outsiders (Paraya Dhan,it is motivated by economic, social and emotional desires and norms that favour males and makes female less desire. So this idea also be immediately changed.
Cultural norms and religion taboos and myths on menstrution are often compounded by traditions with evils, spirits, shame and embarrassment sexual reproduction. It is a phenomenon unique to girls but it is surrounded by taboos and myths that exclude women from many aspects of socio-cultural life. These taboos and myths impact badly on girls and women 's emotional state, mentality and life style and most importantly health , so this idea should immediately be changed.
Restrictions on girls liberty to move freely in public places contribute to school dropout and early marriage and negatively affect girls health and wellbeing from adolescence, so the girls should be immediately be free from such type of restrictions. Girls are non permanent members of the family, this thinking is based on the fact that they will get married, so they are not permanent members of the family. But this idea is completely wrong and should be rejected by the society as the girls have equal rights on the property legally and can not be deprived of their right of equality.
Last but not least, I would like to say that the girls or women are important part of our families or society, we can not ignore them and such types of traditional ideas, restrictions, taboos, myths, discrimination, inequality and other negative thoughts regarding girls or woman affect badly on their dignity, emotions, beliefs and mental and physical health. They must be repected every where and every time. The mentality of male dominated society about female must be changed.
